Seems just like yesterday we were getting ready for International Boxing Hall of Fame Weekend, the Nate Race, and the end of the school year.
Since then we’ve vacationed! (OFFICIAL)
We spent 6 hours at an amusement park! As a FAMILY!!!
We visited dear cousins in Allentown PA who we don’t hardly see enough of…
The kids and I went to Green Lakes for a day!
The kids and I went to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo!
Theo has regularly enjoyed respite care and will soon be receiving care at home to help him become independent.
The girls and dad have attended baseball games and even ran the bases at the Syracuse Chiefs.
My birthday has come and gone…and I survived the Boilermaker (finishing 3 minutes faster than in 2013).
It’s been a heck of a summer!!
But, really, I have to come clean. We have had some setbacks — thanks a lot Autism. Theodore has had changes in medication which, unfortunately, caused him to be super sleepy in the morning. Great on weekends. Not so much during the week. So we are, yet again, changing frequency and dosage and trying to get the right fit.
Being non-verbal there are times we have to play a guessing game to figure out the root of the problem. Sometimes it’s because we’ve changed his brand of juice or the company has changed the packaging without asking the Boss. Sometimes he acts up because he’s hungry and he doesn’t know how to express his feelings and then he interprets it as being sick.
So we give the OTC meds, and then figure, hey, maybe he’s hungry. (Duh.)
And, then, there are times when all he wants to do is to sit in front of the TV and watch the Beastie Boys over, and over, and over, and over…
And sometimes that’s OK too.
As long as we get back up and try again.
Always try again.
